PERSONAL PROFILE

I currently work full time as a forensic photographer and crime scene examiner with the Metropolitan Police and I am currently based at Wembley in London. I have been with the police in this role since 2004. Although I work with cameras all day in my forensic duties I don't get the chance to show my creative side, so my own work is my outlet. I can think of nothing better than getting paid for doing what I love, and that is most definitely photography.

My primary interest was as way to record my travelling (which is my other great love) and I became more and more interested in both landscapes and people photography and I have a selection of images from all over the world. I developed my skills over the years and became interested in other areas including portraiture, which give me a real sense of satisfaction to see the pleasure this brought to people. I have also used photography to capture my other hobby…eclipse chasing, and I have travelled all over the world from Australia to Zambia to experience this truly magical natural phenomenon and stand in the Moon’s shadow.

For most of my photographic journey I have used film cameras. My interest in photography began in 1985 when I got my first SLR camera, a basic Zenith, which is a Russian made camera and weighs a ton. I then progressed to more sophisticated Canon cameras, and I made the jump to Digital a few years ago, and haven’t looked back.

I have a broad breadth of interests in terms of subject matter, and I believe that it is this variety that has fuelled my interests for nearly 25 years. I live in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire and I love to walk in the surrounding countryside with my camera capturing the beauty of the area. Hertfordshire has a diverse landscape from urban areas notably St Albans to farmland and ancient woods such as Scratchwood. The area is often overlooked in favour of more spectacular places, but the understated gentle beauty of the area is a rich source of material to be photographed. I also have family ties in the West Country and have extensively travelled to (and photographed) this stunning area.
